Hailing from Denmark, Michael Learns to Rock stands among the country’s most successful acts, drawing comparable enthusiasm throughout the varied markets of Asia. The ensemble began as a modest bar outfit fronted by vocalist Jascha Richter together with his sister, guitarist Mikkel Lentz, and drummer Kare Wanscher. Richter’s sister exited in 1988, allowing bassist Soren Madsen to round out the final roster. The self-titled debut album arrived in 1991 and received an American release through Impact Records. Cleveland Int’l handled distribution for the 1993 album Colours, 1995’s Played on Pepper, and 2002’s Blue Night. Although the band stayed largely unrecognized across the Western Hemisphere, Asian listeners have kept the group among the region’s most celebrated artists.
