J-pop outfit Mihimaru GT is recognized for its fusion of urban grooves and pop melodies. The pair—vocalist Miyake, born Mitsuyuki Miyake on October 2, 1980, in Okayama, Japan, and Hiroko, born Akutsu Hiroko on July 24, 1984, in Hyogo, Japan—had each pursued unremarkable solo paths before their common management united them under the Mihimaru GT banner. Early singles, beginning with the 2003 release “Yakusoku,” achieved only modest traction, yet the 2006 track “Kibun Jou Jou” elevated the duo to widespread domestic recognition. All three of their studio albums—Mihimarhythm (2004), Mihimalife (2005), and Mihimagic (2006)—performed strongly, each reaching the Top 20 and Mihimagic attaining a peak position of number two. The 2007 collection Best of Mihimaru GT topped the Oricon album chart.
