Biography
Born on 30 November 1959 in Dallas, Texas, Morgan first competed as a motorcycle racer before committing fully to blues guitar. An eyepatch covers his right eye after a racing crash, giving him a distinctly buccaneer-like appearance. He formed the Crawl in the mid-80s alongside harmonica player Lee McBee. Their selections aligned the group with Anson Funderburgh And The Rockets and Ronnie Earl’s Broadcasters, and later albums showed no marked departure in direction. Following the example of the James Harman and William Clarke bands, they pursued an acoustic direction that met with little success. Morgan ended his touring involvement with the band in the early 90s. The 1994 collaboration with Jim Suhler of Monkey Beat set his traditional outlook against Suhler’s post-SRV thrash, producing only partial success.
