Raised in Vancouver, Canadian singer Miquel Brown encountered parental expectations that she pursue medicine, yet she secretly visited nightclubs in pursuit of entertainment. During a summer break from medical studies at the University of Washington, she secured her initial opportunity by auditioning for Hair in Detroit, where she won the role of Sheila and joined the cast for performances across the United States.

She moved to Britain in the early 1970s, working as a vocalist while appearing in minor film roles such as Rollerball and stage productions including Mardi Gras. Her debut single, “The First Time Around,” appeared in the late 1970s, after which she issued further recordings on TSR, Record Shack, Hot Productions, Polydor, and additional labels. Produced by Ian Levine, the single “So Many Men, So Little Time” performed strongly in Great Britain. Earlier minor successes encompassed the 1978 release “Symphony of Love” as well as Record Shack tracks “He’s a Saint, He’s a Sinner,” “Black Leather,” and “Close to Perfection.”
