Formed in the late '90s, the German acid jazz duo Mo' Horizons merged funk, jazz, bossa nova, soul, and boogaloo with downbeat and drum'n'bass elements. The project originated when Hannover-based DJs Ralf Droesemeyer and Mark "Foh" Wetzler, each already established independently, chose to create original material rather than continue solely as selectors. After signing with Stereo Deluxe, they issued several 12-inch singles, one of which, "Foto Viva," appeared on their debut album Come Touch the Sun in 1999. Their follow-up, Remember Tomorrow, arrived in 2001 and supported an extensive tour backed by a full live band. By 2003 the duo released ...And the New Bohemian Freedom; at that point their tracks had already gained wide exposure through numerous commercials and television placements. Turning their attention to reinterpretations, they reworked both familiar and obscure older songs while weaving in fragments of new material, resulting in the 2005 album Some More Horizons. That release was succeeded by Stereo 150, a label retrospective mixed by Droesemeyer and Wetzler. Subsequently Mo' Horizons established their own imprint, Agogo Records, in collaboration with Audiopharm's Ralf Zitzmann, directing their efforts toward fresh recordings as well as scouting and signing emerging artists.
