Biography
The harmonica-driven instrumental ‘Groovin’ With Mr. Bloe’ was assembled by pianist Zack Laurence and released on DJM Records, an imprint of Dick James Music. Mungo Jerry’s ‘In The Summertime’ blocked its path to the top of the UK chart throughout the summer of 1970. Subsequent Mr. Bloe releases such as ‘Anyway You Want It’ and ‘One More Time’ met with indifference and led to the project’s demise, notwithstanding compositions supplied by Elton John and additional associates of James. Its sonic imprint nevertheless resurfaced in 1977 across the atmospheric landscape of ‘A New Career In A New Town’ on David Bowie’s Low.
