Biography
Playing a strain of electronica the press labeled "indietronica," Ms. John Soda first took shape as a solo venture from Stephanie Böhm, the keyboardist in Couch. Micha Acher, bassist for both Notwist and Tied + Tickled Trio, soon entered the picture. The pair, both based in Weilheim, Germany, merged their efforts without friction—Böhm supplying vocals while Acher shifted to programming—crafting a richly textured sound that drew listeners across the Atlantic. Their entrance came in 2002 via the album No P. or D. on the German electronica imprint Morr Music, followed in 2003 by the five-song EP While Talking. The full-length Notes and the Like appeared in 2006. Nearly a decade later, the project resurfaced on Morr Music with Loom; issued toward the end of 2015, the album incorporated drumming from Thomas Geltinger of Couch and multi-instrumental work by Cico Beck of Aloa Input.
