Biography

Born Ardalan Afshar on September 20, 1984, in Tehran, the Austrian-Iranian rapper Nazar spent his formative years in Vienna. There he took up rapping in 2006, uploading multiple tracks online the next year. His debut commercial release, the single “Streetfighter, Pt. 2,” arrived in 2008 and paved the way for the album Kinder des Himmels; brisk rotation of its MTV clips soon established him among Austria’s leading rap figures. After Paradox appeared in 2009, he teamed with fellow Viennese rapper Raf Camora for the 2010 joint project Artkore. A lengthy break followed for most of that year, yet Nazar resurfaced in 2011 with Fakker, his third solo album. A coaching role on the Austrian reality series Blockstars: Sido Macht Band preceded the 2012 album Narkose. Issued the following year, the sequel Fakker Lifestyle registered another chart success in Germany.
