British-Nigerian artist Klein crafts a singular, dreamlike fusion of R&B and experimental electronics, weaving lush, tactile vocals through fragmented samples, digital glitches, icy drones, and sudden eruptions of static. Raised across South London and Nigeria, she absorbed pop, rock, and gospel during childhood yet never pictured herself pursuing music professionally, turning to it instead as a casual pastime that slowly took hold. Following a 2015 guest appearance on a Bianca Scout track, she issued her first album, Only, as a digital self-release in 2016. The record spread through underground experimental circles by word of mouth and later received physical editions on vinyl and USB from Howling Owl Records plus a CD version via P-Vine Records. That same year also saw the arrival of her digital EPs Bondage 007 and Lagata. Klein contributed to Laurel Halo’s 2017 album Dust, which appeared on Kode9’s Hyperdub imprint; the label subsequently signed her and put out her Tommy EP that September.
