Biography
Formed in April 2011 in Oakland, California, Necrot took shape as a death metal trio devoted to hard-grooving intensity, its members drawn from the remains of Acephalix, Vastum, Lawless, and Saviours. Drummer Chad Gailey, bassist/guitarist/vocalist Luca Indrio, and guitarist Sonny Reinhardt make up the group. Their punishing, groove-heavy approach already defined the two 2012 demos, the self-titled release and Into the Labyrinth, both issued under the Blood Divine banner. Those recordings preceded 2014’s The Abyss, an album that reflected greater assurance gained through live performances. Underground outlets showered the band with favorable coverage. Following additional road work, the group gathered its earlier EPs into the 2016 collection The Labyrinth, released by Tankcrimes, which secured a longer-term agreement. The proper studio debut, Blood Offerings, arrived in June 2017 and earned widespread praise.
Three years afterward came Mortal, tracked by Greg Wilkinson. Though the pandemic overshadowed its arrival, the album drew consistently strong, at times rapturous notices. In summer 2021 Necrot resumed touring and appeared at festivals. September 2023 found the trio back at Oakland’s Earhammer Studio with Wilkinson behind the console; a month later they completed the seven tracks that comprise Lifeless Birth. Brad Boatright handled mastering, and the album surfaced in April 2024 to favorable response.
