Biography
Nicholas Krgovich brings a distinctive knack for crossing stylistic boundaries while retaining sharp pop instincts, having first gained notice through the indie pop ensembles No Kids, Gigi, and P:ano before striking out on his own. Active and productive since 2002, the British Columbia resident from Vancouver has generated a vast catalog of recordings that span broad sonic territory, among them On Sunset (2014), In an Open Field (2017), and This Spring (2021). His listening habits encompass a broad spectrum, drawing from Sade and the Blue Nile as well as Rodgers & Hart. In addition to those group affiliations, Krgovich has sustained an extensive solo discography whose entries include In the Yard Havin' Fun: A Prison Musical (2009), Real Life (2012), and the R&B-influenced On Sunset (2014), the latter filled with tales of life in the shadows of Hollywood. After 2016's The Hills, 2017's In an Open Field moved toward soft rock and easy pop, featuring appearances by Angel Deradoorian, Nedelle Torrisi, and pedal steel legend B.J. Cole. The 2018 album Ouch arose as the direct result of a breakup, with Krgovich laying down the dozen tracks at home and performing most of the instruments himself. In 2021 Krgovich released This Spring, a collection of covers of songs by fellow Vancouverite Veda Hille.
