Biography
Saxophonist Niels Vincentz pursues his craft with an exploratory and innovative mindset oriented toward harmonically advanced modern creative jazz. He entered the world in Bridgeport, Connecticut, yet spent his formative years in Denmark. During his college music studies he divided time between New York City and his eventual home in Djursland, Denmark. Several recordings appear under his leadership, among them the 1999 release You Shouldn't Do This If You Are in a Hurry, 2005’s Butterfly Effect, and 2008’s Art Nouveau. Beginning in 2012 he maintained a steady touring schedule alongside drummer Billy Hart and bassist Cameron Brown; the group issued Early Reflections that same year and followed it with Gravity in 2013. Vincentz and the trio reemerged in 2014 with Is That So?, an album that also included trumpeter Tom Harrell.
