Nightfell

The Pacific Northwest's somber climate has spawned numerous doom metal acts, yet Nightfell stands out due to the distinguished backgrounds of its creators. Todd Burdette, previously in His Hero Is Gone and Tragedy, joined forces with Tim Call, formerly of Aldebaran and the Howling Wind, to establish the group. These two pioneers of extreme metal blend their distinct approaches to doom into a unified artistic statement. Characterized by brooding and bleak tones, Nightfell delves into death-doom territory, fusing the driving rhythms of death metal with the dark, atmospheric qualities of funeral doom. Their initial output, the album The Living Ever Mourn, appeared on Southern Lord in 2014, introducing their oppressive musical style to listeners.
