In the Buenos Aires suburb of Tigre, Argentine reggae outfit Nonpalidece originated in 1996 as a quartet featuring vocalist and guitarist Nestor Ramljak, guitarist Diego Bravo, bassist Facundo Cimas, and drummer Galo Llorente. Bound by a collective affinity for roots music, the musicians began forging the sonic identity that would later become the band’s hallmark. A series of personnel adjustments soon followed, with German Bonilla assuming drums and new arrivals Agustin Azubel on tenor sax, Martin Mortola on keyboards, Bruno Signaroli on trumpet, plus percussionists Ariel Sciacaluga and Leo Rodriguez. The revised lineup then concentrated on sharpening its stage presence, finishing material, and laying down the self-released debut Dread al Control in 2000. Subsequent touring paved the way for the 2004 release of Nuevo Dia through 4K Records, which in turn was succeeded two years later by Hagan Correr la Voz.
