Biography
Los Cafres rank among Argentina’s earliest reggae ensembles, maintaining a steady pursuit of genuine engagement with Jamaican musical traditions. Their first release, the 1995 album Frecuencia Cafre, received partial tracking at Kingston’s Tuff Gong studios. Derived from the Arabic term “kafir,” signifying “unfaithful,” the group continues pairing lyrics centered on dreadlocks and the pleasures of sinsemilla with a catchy rocksteady pulse. Beyond the four albums Frecuencia Cafre, Instinct, It Sounds the Alarm, and Small Mirrors, Los Cafres joined remix producer Jim Fox to create the dub collection Instinct Dub.
