Biography
Named after the Odawas, the Great Lakes Native American tribe, an Indiana indie pop trio spins eccentric stories of myth and mayhem that evoke Randy Newman, the Beach Boys, and Angelo Badalamanti, the composer for Twin Peaks. In 2003 the group—vocalist, guitarist, songwriter, and harmonica player Mike Tapscott; keyboardist and songwriter Isaac Edwards; and drummer and flautist Jessica Halverson—issued the Vitamin City Demo on Birds and Rockets Records. The following year they joined Jagjaguwar, which put out their first full-length album, The Aether Eater, in June 2005. Early 2007 saw the arrival of the LP-only Raven and the White Night, which included a free CD copy for buyers and replaced Halverson on drums with Brad Cash. Blue Depths followed in 2009.
