Biography
Formed in 2000 by guitarist Jaime Angarita and vocalist Sage Rene, the Bogota, Colombia punk rock outfit Odio a Botero drew on the pair’s established presence in local circles, where each had previously played with Defenza and Basura. Bassist Alejo Pinzon joined at an early stage, and second vocalist Carolina Cantor entered the lineup by 2001, yet repeated changes behind the drum kit persisted until Gregorio Merchan’s arrival in 2005 finally stabilized the rhythm section. With that stability in place, the group tracked its first release, the EP Omar Nelson, which appeared in 2002; the self-titled full-length Odio a Botero followed in 2004. The subsequent Lechoneria Manson EP proved a massive commercial success, surpassing one million copies sold and solidifying the band’s standing throughout Colombia. Odio a Botero resurfaced in 2007 with the second album Kill the Cuentero.
