San Francisco-based producer Christopher Dexter Greenspan operates behind oOoOO, among the witch-house scene’s more approachable projects. oOoOO fuses hip-hop-inflected rhythms with pop hooks and experimental textures, pulling from an eclectic array of sources that includes Ludacris, Britney Spears, and Broadcast. The project’s debut outing, the 2010 EP No Summer4U, recast Nocera’s “Summertime, Summertime” and Lady Gaga’s “Poker Face” as unsettling, distorted reflections. A split single with White Ring surfaced later that same year, and Tri Angle Records—home as well to the stylistically aligned Balam Acab—issued the oOoOO EP in October. That EP saw a re-release in April 2011. The next year brought the follow-up EP Our Love is Hurting Us, and Greenspan’s own Nihjgt Feelings label delivered the full-length Without Your Love in June 2013.
