Biography
In the shadowy realm of electronic music during the 2010s, Holy Other stood out as an enigmatic presence, debuting via the We Over EP on Transparent Records in 2010. This initial offering established the core elements of his approach, blending deep bass tones, unconventional beats, slowed vocals, and expansive echo effects into a style drawing equally from goth, dubstep, and R&B traditions. The producer, who resided alternately in Manchester and Berlin, maintained anonymity regarding his real identity, avoiding facial imagery on releases and opting for masked performances instead. Later that same year saw the appearance of a split cassette alongside Indigochild, after which Holy Other joined the Tri Angle roster for the 2011 issuance of his debut EP, With U. Following a U.S. tour alongside Amon Tobin, his first full-length effort, Held, came out in August 2012.
