Ikonika, the London-based electronic musician born Sara Abdel-Hamid, crafts lively and vivid productions that incorporate elements of electro, freestyle, house, abstract sound design, and further inspirations. She joined the U.K. bass imprint Hyperdub in 2008 and quickly emerged as one of its central figures, issuing a steady stream of dubstep and experimental club singles together with striking albums such as Aerotropolis in 2013 and Distractions in 2017. Additional releases have appeared via Planet Mu, Don't Be Afraid, and Night Slugs, among them the 2024 single “Details.”

Her initial Hyperdub output consisted of several singles that began with “Please” in 2008, while a 2009 12-inch titled “Smuck” came out on Planet Mu. Although most of these tracks blended mischievous yet emotive battering drums, crisp percussion accents, bleep-streaks, and affecting synthesizer textures, each one remained distinct. The debut album Contact, Love, Want, Have followed in 2010, accompanied that same year by further Hyperdub EPs, another Planet Mu single, and remixes for Caribou, Egyptrixx, Ital Tek, and additional artists. She co-founded the Hum + Buzz label, which hosted the Aqueous Cream EP in 2010 and the I Make Lists EP in 2012, before returning to Hyperdub with the stylistically varied yet sternly focused second album Aerotropolis in 2013. Position, a more straightforward club EP, surfaced the following year.

After a stretch of relative quiet marked only by occasional compilation tracks and remixes, Ikonika resurfaced in 2017 with Distractions, an album that folded in diverse hip-hop, grime, and R&B influences. “Oral Suspension” appeared that year as part of Don't Be Afraid’s DBA Dubs series. The experimental full-length The Library Album arrived in 2018, followed shortly by the collaboration Inah Line with dancehall vocalist 45Diboss. Night Slugs released her edit of Ariana Grande’s “Into You” in 2019. In 2020 she issued two digital collections of rarities plus the EPs Bodies on Don't Be Afraid and Hollow on Hyperdub.

No Feelings Required, a concise set of drill- and grime-inspired instrumentals, came out as a self-release in 2021. Hyperdub presented the amapiano-influenced Bubble Up EP in 2022, while Supernova, an EP with Jamaican vocalist 45DiBoss, landed on Night Slugs in 2023. The same label issued the single “Details” in 2024.
