Evidence of producer Martijn Deijkers' stature appears in the prestigious imprints behind three of his meticulously layered albums that fuse strands of underground dance music: Ghost People on Brainfeeder in 2011, The Air Between Words on Ninja Tune in 2014, and Voids on Ostgut Ton in 2018. Born in the Netherlands, he entered the scene as Martyn in 2005 with singles issued on Marcus Intalex's Revolve:r and DJ Flight's Play:musik. Although grounded in drum'n'bass, those early cuts already suggested his readiness to pull in additional elements from the U.K. hardcore lineage such as garage and dubstep, alongside foundational Chicago house and Detroit techno. By issuing a steady stream of new 12" singles each year through 2009, he advanced toward denser stylistic blends, culminating that year in the self-released, dubstep-focused album Great Lengths. Flying Lotus numbered among his remix clients at that point and subsequently brought him onto the Brainfeeder roster, which yielded several projects highlighted by the tactile and densely hybrid full-length Ghost People in 2011. After relocating to metropolitan Washington, D.C., Deijkers abandoned software production for analog equipment and moved to Coldcut's Ninja Tune, resulting in the 2014 release The Air Between Words. Three years later, following recovery from a heart attack, he delivered Voids, a characteristically forceful yet more open fourth album, on Ostgut Ton. Beyond solo output, he has worked with Steffi under the Doms & Deykers name, and in his established role as a DJ he compiled Fabric 50.
