Biography
Formed in 1972 by the Opara brothers Warrior, Dan Satch, and Godwin Kabaka, the original Orientals emerged as a highlife outfit based in Eastern Nigeria. The ensemble had issued twenty albums by the close of the 1970s. Godwin Kabaka departed in 1977 to launch the Kabaka International Guitar Band, after which the Orientals proceeded under the direction of Warrior and Dan Satch. Warrior exited in 1980 to establish Dr Sir Warrior And The Original Oriental Brothers. The founding members reunited three years afterward to cut the album Onye Nwe Ala, only for Warrior and Godwin Kabaka to split off once more and revive their separate outfits. Fresh listeners discovered the band through the 1991 appearance of Heavy On The Highlife, a fierce anthology that captured fifteen years of vigorous live performances.
