Pale Honey

Emerging from Sweden in 2014 with the Fiction EP, Pale Honey wove together strands of dark post-punk, jagged indie rock, and dream pop. Initially a duo, the group later welcomed the producer behind that EP and their first two albums into the official lineup ahead of their 2020 release, Some Time, Alone.

The Gothenburg outfit began when singer-guitarist Tuva Lodmark and drummer Nelly Daltrey, who had first connected while experimenting with other instruments during high school, joined forces as songwriters. Still mastering their respective roles on guitar and drums, the pair launched regular European tours following the mid-2014 arrival of the three-track Fiction EP. They returned to Fiction EP producer Anders Legarfors for their Bolero Records debut album, Pale Honey, issued the next year. The label followed with the 2017 sophomore set Devotion, which Lodmark and Daltrey composed amid touring commitments and which Legarfors handled as producer, recording engineer, and mixer.

Pale Honey’s 2020 long-player Some Time, Alone marked Legarfors’s formal entry as a band member on guitar and electronics, a role he had already filled in their touring ensemble.
