Biography
Born in Florida, USA, this session guitarist now bases himself in Nashville, Tennessee. His credits include work alongside Cameo, Dixie Chicks, Jeff Finlin, Travis Tritt, and Kim Richey. Raised in a musical household where his father played bass in jazz bands and his mother sang, Buchanan began playing guitar at an early age. He moved from the bar band circuit into US soul funk band Cameo at the peak of their mid-80s success. Once his Cameo tenure ended, he toured as a musician for pop acts such as Hall And Oates and Cyndi Lauper, then entered the Nashville session scene in the mid-90s. Buchanan secured steady assignments among the fresh cohort of pop-rooted players who were reshaping Nashville’s traditional country sound, yet he also participates in the city’s expanding power pop community by recording and touring with his own guitar band the Idle Jets.
