Biography
A folk musician rooted in Boston, Patty Larkin stands out as a gifted singer/songwriter and guitarist who commands a wide audience throughout New England. She regards herself as a musical adventurer, seeking to compose tracks that draw listeners along on her exploratory paths. Recording began for her in the mid-'80s on Philo Records, and every later album charts her development as a creator. Her material earns recognition for its emotional depth, sensuality, and inward focus. Skilled on acoustic, electric, and slide guitar alike, her technique frequently draws comparisons to Bonnie Raitt. Since 1991 she has issued well-regarded albums on HighStreet Records, preserving her primary base in New England while holding appeal on folk stages across the United States. Vanguard Records issued Watch the Sky in 2008, an album on which Larkin performed on nearly a dozen instruments. In 2010 she put out 25, an unplugged acoustic collection of twenty-five reworked love songs that marked her twenty-fifth year as a recording artist.
