Ellis

Ellis showcases the candid, introspective songcraft of Linnea Siggelkow from Canada. Her debut full-length, Born Again, appeared in 2020 and layered atmospheric keyboard textures over sparse, guitar-driven reflections.

Siggelkow, who hails from Hamilton, Ontario, began studying piano at age four under her mother's guidance as a piano instructor. She purchased her initial guitar at age 12 using earnings from babysitting jobs and commenced songwriting during her mid-teens. Early anxiety kept her from live appearances, yet after moving to Toronto in her early twenties she joined area bands.

Adopting Ellis as her stage name drawn from the initials L.S., she soon took her solo songs to D.I.Y. venues and issued her self-produced first EP, The Fuzz, in 2018. Fat Possum subsequently signed her, re-released The Fuzz, and put out Born Again in April 2020. Jake Aron of Snail Mail and Yumi Zouma handled production, with portions tracked at his Brooklyn facility.
