Bonar Bradberry and Tom Thorpe operate as PBR Streetgang, a Leeds-based pair of DJs and producers whose house productions incorporate disco and boogie flavors. Their introduction occurred during a record dig in Birmingham, England, where overlapping tastes created an instant rapport that soon led them to share DJ sets. In 2003 the pair launched a residency called Asylum at Leeds venue Club Mint and adopted the name PBR Streetgang, drawn from the Vietnam War film Apocalypse Now. Solo material from Bradberry surfaced in late 2007, after which the duo issued their first release, Never Get Off the Boat, on Croatian label Red Music Records in early 2008. The two tracks on that 12-inch drew samples from the Cure, lending a dark post-punk accent to the otherwise bright disco-house style. Busy Bee followed later the same year on the identical imprint. Additional EPs appeared via Hot Creations, 20:20 Vision, and Futureboogie, while remix credits accumulated for Crazy P, Romanthony, Maxxi Soundsystem, Lana Del Rey, and further artists. The year 2013 marked their inaugural North American tour and the conclusion of the ten-year Asylum series at a final event featuring Kerri Chandler and Maurice Fulton. Throne of Blood put out the Achilles EP in 2014, and Futureboogie released Cosine, their collaboration with X-Press 2, in 2015. After more output on Toy Tonics and Crosstown Rebels, the duo joined Brighton’s renowned dance imprint Skint Records in 2017. Their first album, Late Night Party Line, emerged in 2018 and included appearances by Mattie Safer, formerly of the Rapture, Danielle Moore of Crazy P, and Ron Basejam.
