Biography
Guitarist Tom Carleno proposed meeting violin player Josie Quick for what began as a date, during which he intended to perform several songs for her. She accepted, and the pair soon built both a close friendship and a creative alliance. They reshaped Carleno’s material with fresh sonic textures before launching performances at coffee houses across Denver and Colorado. Their debut appearance occurred at the Conifer Country Affaire in July 1990. In 1992 the duo expanded to a trio to cut its first album, Ready, Willing and Able, issued the next year. Chad Johnson came aboard on drums and percussion, while bassist Susan Mikulich contributed without becoming a permanent member. Surfing On Cloud Nine followed in 1998, featuring studio bass work by Matt Deason. Christmas Time Is Here appeared in 2000. The group has toured throughout Colorado and the Northwest, mixing original songs with reinterpretations such as Black Water by The Doobie Brothers and Josie by Steely Dan.
