Biography
Sub Pop's roster might suggest a certain allegiance to the raw force of the Stooges and Black Sabbath, yet Pigeonhed instead channeled the funk and soul leanings of Sly Stone, Al Green, and Prince. The project arose from a partnership between two established Seattle presences: Steve Fisk, Pell-Mell member and producer whose credits encompass Nirvana, Beat Happening, Soundgarden, Unwound, and Screaming Trees, together with Shawn Smith, frontman of Brad and Satchel. Equipped with an extensive collection of vintage keyboards, the duo released their self-titled debut in 1993. They reconvened four years later to complete The Full Sentence. A subsequent remix collection, Flash Bulb Emergency Overflow Cavalcade, enlisted contributions from Lo Fidelity Allstars, Technical Itch, and Red Snapper. The pair likewise appeared on a single track from Lo Fidelity Allstars' debut album, How to Operate with a Blown Mind.
