Pressure Drop

Justin Langlands and Dave Henley formed the core of the U.K. dub dance duo Pressure Drop, having first appeared in the mid-'80s as DJs at clubs and warehouse parties across London. The pair launched Pressure Drop in 1990, and their earliest singles mirrored the broad range of sounds from their DJ sets, incorporating funk, Northern soul, ska, acid house, and hip-hop. After finishing their debut LP Upset in 1992, the Big World label shut down; German company IDE then purchased the contract, so roughly 2,000 copies reached stores in Britain. The dark Front Row followed in 1993 and encountered comparable setbacks, after which Pressure Drop released almost nothing for several years until placing the Tearing the Silence EP on Leftfield's Hard Hands label in 1995. Their next full-length, Elusive, appeared in 1997.
