Biography
British producer Andy Turner, working under the Aim name, creates cinematic trip-hop while staying rooted in the rap sounds that shaped his early years. The child of a jazz musician, he launched his career in 1989 as a rap DJ. Recording soon followed, and a chance encounter with Grand Central label head Mark Rae inside a record store secured his signing. His Aim introduction arrived with 1995’s Pacific Northwest EP, which was followed by contributions to several Grand Central compilations plus the Soul Dive EP. His first album, Cold Water Music, appeared in 1999. Turner’s remix work includes tracks for Ian Brown, St. Etienne, the Charlatans UK, Raissa, and Mucho Macho.
