Biography
Erin Fein, an Illinois native, fronts the dreamy synth-pop endeavor Psychic Twin. Lush synthesizers, propulsive beats, and fluttering backup vocals modeled on performers such as Kate Bush and Annie Lennox define her characteristic songwriting. Having grown up in Champaign-Urbana, Fein started composing and tracking solo work in the early 2010s and chose the Psychic Twin name after experiencing channeled energy that convinced her of a spiritual partnership with a nonexistent twin.
Synthesizer player Brett Sanderson and drummer Jonny Sommer eventually joined the project. Its debut outing arrived as the 2012 single “Gonna Get Her,” pressed as a 7" on Lefse Records. After Fein’s divorce the ensemble relocated to Brooklyn in 2013, at which point Polyvinyl issued the follow-up single “Strangers.”
In the years that followed, Fein continued to chronicle personal events through her songs while the lineup evolved, finally stabilizing as a duo anchored by drummer Rosana Caban. The remix EP Chrome Sparks Meets Psychic Twin appeared ahead of the group’s first full-length, Strange Diary, which Polyvinyl released in September 2016.
