Biography
Formed through a partnership between Tim Nordwind of OK Go and Drea Smith from He Say, She Say, Pyyramids incorporates traits from each participant's separate work while avoiding direct resemblance to anything else they have created. A mutual acquaintance brought the two together, after which they connected through a common passion for British post-punk and started composing material as a unit. Pyyramids made their initial appearance with the 2001 EP Human Beings, which highlighted the blend of Smith's commanding vocals and Nordwind's structural approach. The pair tracked their first album inside Nordwind's studio, bringing in Dave Fridmann and Dan Konopka—Nordwind's bandmate from OK Go—to contribute further work on mixing and recording. The completed project, Brightest Darkest Day, appeared in April 2013 through Paracadute Records, the label run by OK Go.
