Formed in Sweden during the early 1990s, the hardcore/punk-pop quartet Randy emerged from the members’ homeland. Politically conscious lyrics paired with instantly memorable and melodic tunes helped the group attract listeners without difficulty, prompting a steady stream of album releases that began in the mid-’90s. Those releases comprised 1995’s There’s No Way We’re Gonna Fit In, 1996’s The Rest Is Silence, and, two years afterward, the band’s first U.S./Canadian offering, You Can’t Keep a Good Band Down. Maximum RockNRoll hailed that record as “the best melodic punk CD since Bad Religion’s No Control.”

At the start of the 21st century Randy signed with the respected punk label Epitaph/Burning Heart, which delivered their fourth full-length, The Human Atom Bombs, in August 2001. Welfare Problems followed two years later. Their rising stature in Sweden showed in repeated appearances at the country’s notable Hultsfred Festival, a 2004 nomination from Swedish national radio for the Golden Microphone Award recognizing best live act, and radio success with the song “X-Ray Eyes.” The band also earned a nomination in the Best Rock category at the Swedish Grammys and another for Best Live Act at the independent Manifest Awards. Randy the Band reached North American stores in January 2006 through Fat Wreck.
