Raúl Fuentes Cuenca, known professionally as the Latin pop singer Raúl, first explored his voice in childhood while drawing influence from leading Spanish performers. Early exposure arrived through an appearance on a regional television broadcast and an entry in the En Busca De Estrellas competition. Starting in 1998 he worked the Basque Country club circuit, later securing second place at Eurocanción 2000 with “Sueño Su Boca,” the title track from his debut album, a platinum-certified set issued in May 2000. Haciendo Trampas appeared the following June 2001 and contained the hit single “Prohibido.”
