Realejo, a five-piece ensemble from Portugal, merges longstanding Iberian and broader European musical customs with fresh contemporary approaches. The project channels the artistic direction of Fernando Meireles, the country’s only hurdy-gurdy maker and a versatile multi-instrumentalist, as the group sustains its output of what Mundo of the Song has termed “a music emerging of a time within time.”
