Biography
Richard Edgar-Wilson has earned recognition as a tenor across opera, oratorio, and song, maintaining an active schedule of performances and recordings that stretches back to the late 1980s and spans settings from an intimate chamber duet alongside pianist Joanna Leach to the full sonic force of Mannheim Steamroller. Among the milestones that stand out so far are his accounts of Serenade for Tenor, Horn and Strings delivered once under Grecian heat and once amid Norwegian frost, together with presentations of War Requiem across venues in the United Kingdom and Italy. Contemporary opera has drawn particular attention to his work, notably his portrayal of the Electrician in Thomas Adès’ Powder Her Face and his embodiment of Pedro in Mark-Anthony Turnage’s The Country of the Blind.
