David Hobson

David Hobson, the distinguished Australian composer and opera singer, once envisioned a professional path in economics or law until an encounter with the Victoria State Opera redirected him while he was still rooted in his Ballarat origins. In 1987 he stepped onto the opera stage for the first time, taking the role of Rodolfo in La Bohéme, and soon afterward secured membership in the Australian Opera while receiving the Dame Joan Sutherland Scholarship the next year. Since those early milestones he has performed lead roles across many productions, written scores for television, film, and theater, and earned a wide range of honors.
