Biography
Inspired by pioneering country figures such as Johnny Cash and Hank Williams, the Road Kings set out to merge their distinctive take on country with contemporary rock sounds throughout their native Texas. Blending those roots with additional touches drawn from ZZ Top, Junior Brown, the Supersuckers, and Beck, Jason Burns on uptight bass, Richie Vasquez on drums, and Jesse Dayton on guitar and vocals delivered the band’s self-titled debut album as their first release for Surfdog Records in 1999.
