French composer Roger Roger produced an extensive body of soundtrack music, crafting pieces for radio broadcasts, television programs, advertising spots, animated features, and stage shows. Film scoring, however, formed the core of his efforts, with the musician tallying more than five hundred such projects himself. Commercial distribution of his pieces remained absent until the year 1996, at which point the Metropole Orchestra from the Netherlands committed his works to an album titled Grands Travaux. The composer passed away on June 12, 1996, when he was eighty-three years old, without witnessing the record's issuance.
