Biography
Born in Argentina’s Corrientes province in 1961, traditional singer and guitarist Rudi Flores was the son of bandoneon player and orchestra leader Avelino Flores. He took up the guitar at seven and soon performed with his father’s ensemble alongside his younger brother Nini Flores, who was born in Corrientes in 1966 and had already mastered both the accordion and the bandoneon. The siblings formally launched the duo Rudi & Nini Flores in 1984. Their first recording, Argentine: Chamamé -- Music of Paraná, was made for ethnomusicologist Michel Plisson in 1993 and later issued by Ocora Radio France in 1996. After relocating to France in 2000, they released Por Cielos Lejanos on the Ocora imprint in 2003. Their third Ocora Radio France album, Chamame: Music of Corrientes, appeared in 2006.
