Ruy Maurity stands among the leading figures in rural rock, achieving success through the songs "Serafim e Seus Filhos" and "Nem Ouro Nem Prata," both collaborations with Zé Jorge. Tracks by the artist featured in Globo Network telenovelas including Fogo Sobre Terra, Dona Xepa, and A Escalada, in addition to the Manchete Network production Ana Raio e Zé Trovão, where "Estradas do Interior" was included. Born to Iolanda Maurity Santos, the principal violinist in Orquestra Sinfônica do Teatro Municipal, and as the sibling of Antônio Adolfo, Maurity developed his skills on the violão without formal instruction. The year 1970 brought him victory at Rio de Janeiro's Festival Universitário for "Dia Cinco," again partnering with Zé Jorge. That same year marked the release of his debut recording, Este é Ruy Maurity, issued by Odeon.
