Samantha Navarro, the Uruguayan singer and songwriter, began writing original compositions in early childhood and soon started guitar lessons. Her main influences were her father, musician Mario Navarro, together with 1970s hard rock, which led her to enter Montevideo’s local music circuit in the early 1990s. In 1994 she won the Best Author prize at Montevideo’s Festival, an achievement that secured the chance to record her first album in 1996. She later took part in other projects, among them La Máquina Del Amor and Los Contundentes. In 1998 she issued Mujeres Rotas, the same year she served as opening act for Enrique Iglesias at Centenario Stadium.
