Originating from Germany, the downtempo electronic duo Sankt Otten joined forces with Australia's Hidden Shoal Recordings. The pair came together in 1999 within Osnabrück, located in Lower Saxony, consisting of Stephan Otten on drums, sampling, and programming alongside Oliver Klemm handling guitar and keyboards, drawing favorable comparisons to Portishead. Their initial release came in 1999 via the four-track Stille Tage im Klischee EP issued by Eleganz Records, with the album Eine Kleine Traurigkeit appearing the following year. Transitioning to Hidden Shoal Recordings, they put out Wir Koennen Ja Freunde Bleiben as their next full-length effort in 2006, featuring the track "Fremdenzimmer," before delivering Wunden Gibt Es Immer Wieder in 2007.
