Biography
Canadian producer and vocalist Sarcastic Sounds advanced from peddling beats via the Internet to crafting a cut for Lil Wayne before inking a deal with Columbia. Lo-fi hip-hop textures, emotional currents, and pop hooks propelled his singles—such as the 2018 release “I Don’t Sleep” and the 2020 Powfu and Rxseboy collaboration “I’ll Come Back for You”—to tens of millions of streams.
Born Jeremy Fedryk in 2000, he began studying music production in his early teens and offered instrumental works online under the name “Sarcastic Asshole.” Once sales materialized, he promptly adopted the moniker Sarcastic Sounds. In 2017 his interest turned to lo-fi hip-hop and sample manipulation, a direction he applied to his initial singles. The 2018 output comprised “Jealousy,” “I Can’t Help,” “I Don’t Sleep,” and the Frankie Cosmos-sampling “Frankee,” each under two minutes and sharing a similarly melancholic melodic stance. That same year Fedryk entered a beatmaking competition that drew the notice of classic rap producer Mannie Fresh; several months afterward the pair spent a week working together, yielding the beat that became “Mahogany” on Lil Wayne’s 2020 album Funeral.
Sarcastic Sounds’ tracks continued accumulating massive streams. Columbia Records signed him in 2020, and alongside joint efforts with Powfu and Sista Prod he issued fresh material of his own, among them “Scared of the World” and “Laugh.”
