Biography
Laura Hill, a home-recording musician based in Brisbane, Australia, launched her synth-pop project under the name Scraps to showcase her self-produced material. Working with understated vocals, rudimentary keyboards, and electronic reworkings of whimsical, nostalgic songcraft, she assembled her debut album Classic Shits 2006-2009, which collected the strongest of her intimate, homemade pop recordings made through that period. Issued by Bedroom Suck in 2011, the LP was followed by a series of matching digital singles, EPs, and the 2012 seven-inch Secret Paradise. As Scraps, Hill played shows in multiple Australian underground venues, paving the way for the next full-length Electric Ocean, which appeared in early 2014.
