Biography
Sharon Forrester first drew attention by performing for visitors along Jamaica's northern coast, an experience that led to an introduction to Geoffrey Chung of Now Generation. Struck by the range of her voice, Chung arranged for her to travel to the U.K., where she wrapped the album Sharon. Forrester also explored acting, taking a part in the film Moon Over the Alley. Wider notice followed an appearance on the British program Aquarius, during which she delivered a stirring take of George Harrison's "Here Comes the Sun." In 1994 the electronica movement returned the lovers rock diva to the spotlight when she recorded "Love Inside" over a jungle rhythm for FFRR Records. Her second album, the decades-in-the-making This Time, surfaced in 1996 and received quiet acclaim. She supplied backing vocals as well for Burning Spear, Jimmy Cliff, and Alpha Blondy, among others.
