Formed in the Netherlands, the EDM pair Sick Individuals crafts energetic and memorable dance tracks that resonate both on festival stages and through airwaves. Joep Smeele and Rinze Hofstee constitute the duo, having first crossed paths in 2008 during their music composition studies. Prior to their partnership, each had composed pieces for advertising purposes, yet their shared admiration for Daft Punk alongside Swedish House Mafia sparked the decision to collaborate on dance music productions. From 2010 onward, original material from Sick Individuals appeared via Sneakerz Muzik, though their remix contributions proved more abundant at the outset, serving artists such as Flo Rida, Nicky Romero, and Freestylers. A standout effort came with their version of Icona Pop's 2012 blockbuster single "I Love It," earning significant acclaim and paving the way for multiple releases across imprints including Revealed Recordings, Axtone, Onelove, and Armada. Peak success arrived through joint efforts like the track "Blueprint" alongside Dannic and "I Am" with Axwell, both achieving the summit on Beatport's dance charts. Additional remix work encompassed material from Madonna, Rihanna, Lady Gaga, Avicii, plus many other prominent figures. Live appearances have taken place at prominent events such as Tomorrowland, Ultra, and Creamfields. Furthermore, the duo curates the podcast This Is Sick, which also served as the title for a 2015 compilation CD issued by Japan's Avex Trax label, gathering several of their prominent works. The year 2019 saw the launch of their single "Scars" that features Cub Rayan.
