Biography
Sidy Diop, a Senegalese singer and songwriter recognized for his warm and distinctive tenor, blends vibrant Mbalax rhythms with romantic Afropop. He first cultivated a grassroots audience via social media before issuing his initial full-length release, the 2018 album Ndortel, and the follow-up EP Tidiane Yi.
Born and raised in Pikine, a suburb of Dakar, Diop launched his professional path as a working musician performing at weddings and baptisms, then expanded his reach online through original tracks such as "Sa Hein Hein" and "Coucou Snap." His debut album Ndortel showcased passionate vocals alongside joyful Mbalax grooves and romantic balladry when it surfaced in 2018. The later EP Tidiane Yi further boosted his standing, and he reemerged in 2020 with independent singles including "My Honey" and "Sama Diegu."
