Nashville-based musician Sierra Ferrell brings her winsomely nimble, bluesy voice to an idiosyncratic mix of country, jazz, folk, and blues. After years of nomadic touring, she settled in Nashville and cut her solo debut, Long Time Coming, which Rounder Records issued in August 2021. The album, helmed by producers Gary Paczosa and Stu Hibberd, featured guest appearances by Sarah Jarosz, Jerry Douglas, Tim O'Brien, and Billy Strings. Ferrell soon found herself in demand as a featured vocalist, lending her voice to projects by the Black Keys, Old Crow Medicine Show, Shakey Graves, Melissa Carper, and Early James, while issuing her own galloping single “Fox Hunt” in 2023.

Born in small-town West Virginia, Ferrell spent her twenties traveling with fellow transient musicians, establishing short-term homes in Seattle and New Orleans and performing everywhere from truck stops and boxcars to street corners before making Nashville her base. Rounder Records signed her after hearing her live performances. Her debut arrived to strong notices, and momentum carried into the following years as she appeared on Diplo Presents Thomas Wesley Chapter 2: Swamp Savant plus additional albums by Old Crow Medicine Show and Shakey Graves. By late 2023 she had reached the Hot 100 as a guest on Zach Bryan’s Top 40 single “Holy Roller” and scored her own Billboard country-chart entry with “Fox Hunt,” which appeared on her second album, Trail of Flowers.

Released in March 2024 and again produced by Gary Paczosa alongside Eddie Spear, the record included contributions from Lukas Nelson, Nikki Lane, and Chris Scruggs. That year Ferrell played a sold-out headline date at Nashville’s Ryman Auditorium and supported the Avett Brothers and Zach Bryan on the road.
